I revisited this book this year, as I had forgotten its lessons from my last reading. The book has a challenge. It mixes up outcomes and processes. This might be a storytelling trick. Sometimes, the author talks about a company's actions and links them to bad results. But, I'm not sure about the direct cause and effect.
I liked the book's examples of what not to do in strategy. Like, spending time on your vision and mission or dreaming of big success is not strategy. It reminded me of my business school strategy course from Prof. Jana Gallus, where I learned that vertical integration isn't a strategy. Strategy is about making choices and accepting trade-offs.
A memorable example from the book involves a helicopter company attempting to create a slogan. It highlights that you don't need a committee to design a slogan, illustrating the pitfalls of overcomplicating simple tasks.
